Convertible Top
Unlike most convertible tops, the New Beetle Convertible top has got a glass
rear window that features a defrost function to help keep visibility clear
so you can always see the smiles you’re generating. Available in semi-power
or manual version.

Automatic Rollover Protection
Underneath the headrests in the back seat are 2 hidden steel beams. They’re
pneumatically deployed as soon as a rollover is detected. Just like airbags,
they deploy lightning fast and are designed to help minimize the risk of injury
in the event of a rollover accident.

Anti-intrusion Beams
VW uses steel reinforcements in the doors which are designed to absorb and
redirect impact energy upon a side impact – basically creating a steel
cage to protect passengers.

Integrated Mirrors
The side view mirrors have the blinkers built right into them. This helps to
make your VW safer because it clearly signals vehicles to the left or right
of your VW when you’re turning or changing lanes. And as an added bonus,
it’s easier for the driver to spot when you’re driving with your
blinker on.

Heated Washer Nozzles
What good are washer nozzles if they are frozen closed? Your wiper nozzles
on your VW can heat up to keep ice from forming over them.

Auto-locking Doors
Once a VW hits 8 miles per hour, the doors automatically lock. This helps to
keep the passengers safe inside the cabin of the VW. Just pull the handle twice
to unlock the doors, or hit the unlock button.

Rain sensing Wipers
With rain-sensing wipers, you don’t have to worry about controlling the
speed of the wipers in the rain, they’ll take care of it for you. A small
sensor in the windshield detects how much water is obstructing your vision.
And, since Mother Nature can change her mind quickly, these wipers adjust their
speed automatically.

ESP
In conjunction with the ABS, ASR and EDL systems, plus additional sensors,
the Electronic Stability Program helps the driver maintain their intended course
during evasive maneuvering, like avoiding an accident, by applying brake pressure
to specific wheels.

Immobilizer III
Part of the theft deterrent system, this system will allow the vehicle to start
if a key with the appropriate digital coding is inserted into the ignition.
If anything without that coding is inserted into the ignition, the immobilizer
disables the ignition and your VW cannot be started.

Brake Pad Wear Indicator
VW thought it would be polite to let you know that your brake pads are almost
worn away before they’re gone completely and they possibly damage your
brake rotors. Thus the indicator.

FSSB Pre-tensioners
The Front Seat Safety Belt pre-tensioner is a pyrotechnic or gas operated device,
which is triggered during moderate or severe impact to reduce excess slack
between the front passengers and their seatbelt.

Load Limiters
Load limiters sense how much force the seatbelt is exerting on the occupant
after the pre-tensioners have activated, and will let a little bit of seatbelt
line out if they detect too much force on the passenger to help reduce the
potential for injuries. We’re about comfort and safety.

4 Airbags*
Airbags are passive safety features that are found in every VW. They’re
activated in certain types of vehicle collisions when sensors trigger their
deployment in just milliseconds. Safe Happens.

Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children
Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children is a standardized child-safety anchor
system, which makes it easier for parents to install a child safety seat in
their VW the correct way.

Buckle Sensor Switch
The front seatbelts want nothing more than to keep you safe. Which is why the
buckle sensor switch will give you a signal if your seatbelt isn’t
fastened.

When the top is dropped on your New Beetle Convertible, the roof folds into
the shape of a spoiler. Similar to an open cockpit, vintage racecar.

This little hole makes your VW a lot cooler. The Auxiliary input is located
right next to the radio in your New Beetle Convertible. You can plug in your
iPod® or even your guitar (if you got one during the First Act promotion)
and listen to it through your New Beetle Convertible’s stereo.

Valet Key
Lock your glove box and gas door when you’re valeting your VW. The valet
key will only unlock the doors and turn your VW on and off. So all your personals

Key Fob
Thanks to selective unlocking, you can choose to unlock the driver side or
all doors when you press the unlock button. Use the panic button for safety
or to find your car in a crowded lot. Plus, you can put the windows down or
up and even close the sunroof by holding the key in either direction while
it’s in the door lock cylinder. If the key can do this, imagine what
the rest of the car is like.
