exterior features
Honeycomb Grill
The honeycomb pattern in the grill and bumper allows air to flow through more
quickly in your GTI. This helps to keep the intercooler and front brakes
nice and cool, which equals even better performance.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Integrated Logo
To the untrained eye, it may seem like there is no trunk latch on the GTI at
all. But, it’s actually part of the shiny VW logo right in the middle
of the hatch. It’s fun to let friends figure that one out on their own.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Red Brake Calipers
The front brake calipers are painted with heat resistant, bright red paint.
They look good and they work even better.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Laser Seam Welding
The welding technique that is used on the GTI. It’s seamless and helps
create a more rigid body. Which equals less flex. Which equals a safer ride
with better handling. Plus. Plus.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Diversity Antenna
An antenna system which has two physical antennae. Whichever antenna has the
stronger signal for any given channel is used as the receiver, making sure
you get the best reception possible.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Dual Exhaust Tips
They’re a complement to the rear of your GTI. Or, maybe they’re
2 complements.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Power Windows
Every VW is equipped with power windows. It’s not because we think you’re
lazy, it’s because we think you deserve it. And they all have pinch protection,
which helps reduce the risk of injury to a set of unsuspecting fingers when
the windows are closing.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Heated Washer Nozzles
What good are washer nozzles if they are frozen closed? Your wiper nozzles
on your VW can heat up to keep ice from forming over them.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Integrated Mirrors
The side view mirrors have the blinkers built right into them. This helps to
make your VW safer because it clearly signals vehicles to the left or right
of your VW when you’re turning or changing lanes. And as an added bonus,
it’s easier for the driver to spot when you’re driving with your
blinker on.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
interior features
Brushed Aluminum
The interior of your GTI has got a trim that resembles brushed aluminum, which
wraps around the dash, around the gauges and the center console. Similar
to the cockpit in an F16 jet.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Alloy Pedals
The aluminum pedals in your GTI were designed based on racecar technology.
They’ve also got rubber grips to help keep you in complete control whether
you’re launching or cornering.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Interlagos Interior
For the true enthusiast, the interior of the GTI has the VW-specific Interlagos
plaid pattern. Just like the original
hot hatch.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Lane Change Feature Blinker
With the VW Lane Change Feature, all you’ve got to do is tap the blinker
once in the direction of your choice when changing lanes and the blinker will
blink 3 times, all on its own. Smart blinker.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Immobilizer III
Part of the theft deterrent system, this system will allow the vehicle to start
if a key with the appropriate digital coding is inserted into the ignition.
If anything without that coding is inserted into the ignition, the immobilizer
disables the ignition and your VW cannot be started.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Grab Handles
Your GTI has got grab handles (also known as the “Oh #$%! handles”)
located right on the center console and above the window.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door

driving position possible, because we all come in different shapes and sizes.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door

system, which makes it easier for parents to install a child safety seat in
their VW the correct way.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Auxiliary Input Jack
This little hole makes your VW a lot cooler. The Auxiliary input is located
inside the glove box of your GTI. You can plug in your iPod® or even your
guitar (if you got one during the First Act promotion) and listen to it through
your GTI’s stereo.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
6 Airbags*
Airbags are passive safety features that are found in every VW. They’re
activated in certain types of vehicle collisions when sensors trigger their
deployment in just milliseconds. You can also choose to get your VW with 2
additional airbags for added safety. Safe Happens.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
*Airbags are supplemental restraints only and will not deploy under all accident
circumstances. Always use safety belts and seat children only in the rear,
using restraint systems appropriate for their size and age.
4 Cup Holders
2 cup holders are great, but 4 cup holders are better when you’ve got
a couple extra friends in the back seat. Or, if you’re just really, really
thirsty.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
60/40 Rear Seat
You can fold down 60, 40 or 100 percent of the back seat flat. Why not 50/50?
Because sometimes you need to use a little extra room for cargo without having
to ask one of your friends to get out and walk.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Standard Premium VII Stereo
The Standard Premium VII Stereo has an in-dash 6-disc changer that is MP3 compatible
and Satellite ready too. Of course, there’s a place for your iPod® to
join in the fun too. Just plug it into the Auxiliary jack located in the
glove box.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
CLIMAtronic™ A/C
VW’s climate control system that automatically controls the cabin temperature.
Once the user sets the desired temperature, CLIMAtronic™ takes over to
maintain that temperature, regardless of fluctuations in the outside air temperature.
CLIMAtronic™ also allows the driver and passenger to set their own desired
temperature, creating
2 custom climates. Hey, “shotgun” deserves some control too.
Optional In: 2-door and 4-door
MFI
The Multi-Function Indicator is a trip computer that not only tells you things
like outside temperature, engine temperature and how far you’ve traveled,
it will even let you know how much farther you can travel based on the amount
of fuel in the tank. Perfect for people who mix up their “E” and “F”.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
ESP
In conjunction with the ABS, ASR and EDL systems, plus additional sensors,
the Electronic Stability Program helps the driver maintain their intended course
during evasive maneuvering, like avoiding an accident, by applying brake pressure
to specific wheels.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Sport Suspension
The GTI comes standard with track tuned sport suspension. Making it sit lower
and corner tighter.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
performance features
Sway Bars
In these tubular, steel sway bars keep your GTI’s chassis from getting
all twisty when going through the twisties.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Front Seats
The high bolsters and deep buckets keep you right behind the steering wheel
when piloting your GTI. Which is exactly where you want to be.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Rear Hatch Spoiler
This spoiler may look like just an aesthetic complement to your GTI, but it
actually helps create a down draft to keep your GTI stable. Spoilers make your
Fast happy.
Optional In: 2-door and 4-door
DSG
It’s a completely automatic transmission when you want it to be. But,
it’s also an F1 race-inspired transmission that shifts in just 2/10s
of a second with the tap of a paddle when it’s time to have some fun.
And when equipped with launch control, simply put your DSG transmission in
sport mode, press the ESP off button, keep your left foot on the brake and
then press the gas pedal to the floor. Take your foot off the brake. Blast
off.
Optional In: 2-door and 4-door
Alphabet Brakes
Includes the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Engine Braking Assist (EBA), Electronic
Stabilization Program (ESP), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Electronic Differential
Lock (EDL), Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD) and Hydraulic Brake
Assist (HBA). Safety. Safety. And more safety.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
Bi-Xenon™ Headlamps
A headlamp system, standard on GTI, which shines brighter than halogen or normal
filament bulbs. The light beam in a Bi-Xenon™ headlamp is created by
an arc of electricity inside the light bulb filled with xenon gas. And, both
the low and high beams use the same bulb. The figurative “good idea” light
bulb.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
6-speed Manual
Six on the floor. It doesn’t rhyme, it performs.
Standard In: 2-door and 4-door
