Diversity Antenna
An antenna system which has 2 physical antennae. Whichever antenna has the
stronger signal for any given channel is used as the receiver, making sure
you get the best reception possible. This antenna is built into the VW’s
windshield or trunk.

Bi-Xenon™ Headlamps
A VW headlamp system which shines brighter than halogen or normal filament
bulbs. The light beam in a Bi-Xenon™ headlamp is created by an arc of
electricity inside the light bulb filled with xenon gas. And, both the low
and high beams use the same bulb. The figurative “good idea” light
bulb.

AFS
Adaptive Front Lighting comes standard with your Passat’s Bi-Xenon™ headlamps
and actually turns the headlamp up to 15 degrees in the direction you’re
headed while cruising at freeway speeds. At slow speeds, AFS turns an additional
bulb in the direction you’re turning with the flick of the blinker.

Integrated Mirrors
The side view mirrors have the blinkers built right into them. This helps to
make your VW safer because it clearly signals vehicles to the left or right
of your VW when you’re turning or changing lanes. And as an added bonus,
it’s easier for the driver to spot when you’re driving with your
blinker on.

Power Glass Sunroof
It tilts. It slides. It’s got pinch protection. And it’s tinted
so you don’t get toasted when the sun comes out to play.

LED Technology
The rear markers, brake lights and turn signal lights are all illuminated using
Light Emitting Diodes. LEDs illuminate instantly, and they use less energy
and last significantly longer than standard light bulbs. Good for safety and
the environment.

Rain-sensing Wipers
With rain-sensing wipers, you don’t have to worry about controling the
speed of the wipers in the rain, they’ll take care of it for you. A small
sensor in the windshield detects how much water is obstructing your vision.
And, since Mother Nature can change her mind quickly, these wipers adjust their
speed automatically.

Heated Washer Nozzles
What good are washer nozzles if they are frozen closed? Your wiper nozzles
on your VW can heat up to keep ice from forming over them.

Tire Pressure Sensor
A sensor built into the valve stem of each tire reads the air pressure, letting
you know when one or more of your tires are too low. It only makes sense – properly
inflated tires make the vehicle both safer and more fuel-efficient.

CLIMAtronic™ A/C
VW’s climate control system that automatically controls the cabin temperature.
Once the user sets the desired temperature, CLIMAtronic™ takes over to
maintain that temperature, regardless of fluctuations in the outside air temperature.
CLIMAtronic™ also allows the driver and passenger to set their own desired
temperature, creating
2 custom climates. Hey, ‘shotgun’ deserves some control too.

Immobilizer III
Part of the theft deterrent system, this system will allow the vehicle to start
if a key with the appropriate digital coding is inserted into the ignition.
If anything without that coding is inserted into the ignition, the immobilizer
disables the ignition and your VW cannot be started.

MFI
The Multi-Function Indicator is a trip computer that not only tells you things
like outside temperature, engine temperature and how far you’ve traveled,
it will even let you know how much farther you can travel based on the amount
of fuel in the tank. Perfect for people who mix up their “E” and “F”.

6 Airbags*
Airbags are passive safety features that are found in every VW. They’re
activated in certain types of vehicle collisions when sensors trigger their

FSSB Pre-tensioners
The Front Seat Safety Belt pre-tensioner is a pyrotechnic or gas operated device,
which is triggered during moderate or severe impact to reduce excess slack
between the front passengers and their seatbelt.

Load Limiters
Load limiters sense how much force the seatbelt is exerting on the occupant
after the pre-tensioners have activated, and will let a little bit of seatbelt
line out if they detect too much force on the passenger to help reduce the
potential for injuries. We’re about comfort and safety.

Navigation System
Your VW navigation system comes preset with your home address programmed in,
allowing you to find directions from your home to just about anywhere on the
planet. It even allows you to program stops into your trip, in case you want

between the shortest distance and the fastest way to get there.

The Collapsible Steering Column is designed to actually collapse upon impact
to help prevent injuries to the driver.

LCF Blinker
With the VW Lane Change Feature, all you’ve got to do is tap the blinker
once in the direction of your choice when changing lanes and the blinker will
blink 3 times, all on its own. Smart blinker.

Key Fob
To start your Passat, just insert the entire fob into the ignition and push.
VROOM! To turn it off, just press it again. And, thanks to selective unlocking,
you can choose which doors unlock when you press the unlock button. Use the
panic button for safety or to find your car in a crowded lot. If the key can
do this, imagine what the rest of the
car is like.

Electronic Parking Brake
No need to pull levers or push pedals to set your e-brake. Just simply press
the e-brake button and they’ll set themselves. Once you’re ready
to get going, just press the button again and the e-brake will release itself.

Auto Hold
Whether you’re going up or downhill, once you come to a complete stop,
you can go ahead and take your foot off the brake. Your Passat controls the
hydraulic pressure to prevent the vehicle from rolling forward or backward.
Once you tap the gas pedal, you’ll get going again.

ACC
The available Adaptive Cruise Control has a radar unit located in the front
grill, behind the VW logo. Once you set your cruise control, ACC will control
speed and distance behind whichever vehicle you are following. It also has
a Reduced Stopping Distance which pre-pressurizes the braking system, if a
critical situation is recognized.

Umbrella Holder
Now, thanks to the built-in umbrella holder in the door, when you see a pedestrian
caught in the rain, you can come to their rescue.

Driver Side Glove Box
Located below and to the left of your steering wheel, there’s a small
glove box, just for the driver. Why should your co-pilot be the only one with

Like little secret hiding spots to the left and right of the hazards button,

Use the valet key hidden inside your key fob to lock your glove box and gas
door when you valet your VW. This will help make sure that all your personals
stay personal.

each wheel is able to pivot and be suspended separately from all other wheels,
